Bruce O’Neal Jarrell, Sr., 64, of Randleman (St. Peter), North Carolina transitioned to his heavenly home following a brief illness at the Randolph Hospice House on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at St Peter United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Randleman.

Bruce received his education in Bronx, New York and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of St. Peter United Methodist Church where he participated in the men’s group. He was a “jack of all trades and a master of some,” and took great pride in his carpentry work which was often done to perfection.

Affectionately known as the “Candy Man,” Bruce had a kind heart. He had a sense of humor that kept everyone laughing, dance moves like no other and cherished moments spent with family and friends. He had a love for animals, especially dogs, and in his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing and cheering for his favorite teams, the Washington Redskins and New York Knicks.

Bruce is survived by his three sons: Bruce “BJ” Jarrell of Las Vegas, Bruce Jarrell, Jr. of Raleigh, Lionell Doumas of Minnesota, and his baby girl Ebonee Jarrell of Germantown, Maryland. He leaves behind six wonderful grandchildren: Aniyah, Ivoree, Sean, Zion, Lorde, and Lawrence.

Bruce will be missed by his loving aunts, Marsha Jarrell Brown of Bronx, New York, and Alice “Sue” Jarrell of Randleman, along with his great aunt Lois Ann Hayes of Randleman. He also leaves behind his former wife of 22 years, Aletha Proctor of White Plains, his siblings: Sondra, Cheylle, Damon and Danielle, all of Richmond, Virginia, a “sister” cousin, Jo Jarrell Reid, a special “brother” cousin, Leonard “Horce” Ferree, a very special friend, Ruby Lee Johnson, several nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. Bruce was preceded in death by his doting grandmother, Mary Jarrell, grandfather, Wilbert Jarrell, mother, Sarah Agnes Jarrell, siblings, Namon and Sonnie Hill and cousin Atonya Rene Jarrell.
