Starts at 3:00 pm (Eastern time)
Donald Charles “DJ” Yakey, II, 57, of Graham passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro. DJ’s love for others will continue as he was able to be a “Superhero” through the miracle of organ donation.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 23, 2026 at Trinity Worship Center in Burlington with Pastor Darrell Cox officiating. The family will receive friends for an informal time of visitation following the service in the church vestibule.
A lifter of everyone’s spirit and known for his distinctive and special laugh, DJ was full of life and always a joy to be around. He had a strange and unique sense of humor and was very creative. His artistic abilities were easily visible in the numerous drawings he has created over the years. Comics, music and art brought him much joy, but above all was spending time with his family and friends. DJ was preceded in death by his father, Donald Charles Yakey, his aunts, Patty and Kathy Fuller, Clara Boyd and uncles, Jack and Ricky Fuller.
DJ is survived by his mother, Janet Digweed Yakey, his sister, Jean Lee (Donald), his partner, Chris Carroll, his nephews, Dustin Coleman (Nikki) and Noah Lee (Mikaella), as well as his great niece, Aria Coleman, all of Graham. He is also survived by his friend, Debra Carroll, step-nephews, Trenton, Trey, Marcus and Justin, step-nieces, Kaila and Abbey, as well as his aunts, Jill, Sandy, Marie, Judy and Diane Fuller, Elaine Thomas, and uncles, Eddie, Paul and George Fuller, and Frank Digweed.
Please take a moment to share condolences and memories on the Tribute Wall with Mr. Yakey’s family at www.coleycares.com.
Coley Funeral & Cremation Service is honored to take part in serving the Yakey family and celebrating the life of DJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
