Captain Leanne Marie Caudill (Parkhill), beloved daughter of Steven and Michelle Hinesley Caudill of Grays Chapel passed away on June 15, 2026 at Ft. Bragg in North Carolina.
The family will receive friends and loved ones at Providence Friends Church on Monday evening, July 6, 2026 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. A funeral service to honor Leanne’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at Providence Friends Church with Pastor Kevin Rollins and Chaplain Jonathan Heitman officiating. Burial will follow at Hilltop Memorial Cemetery in Seagrove with military honors by the United States Army National Guard.
Leanne was born on June 29, 1990 to Steven and Michelle Hinesley Caudill. Full of ideas, dreams, and ambitions, she graduated from Eastern Randolph High School in 2008 where she was actively involved with JROTC and a proud member of the “Marching Wildcats” Color Guard. She attended Appalachian State in Boone, North Carolina where she was a member of the ROTC and Pershing Rifles, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice in 2012 and subsequently commissioning as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army National Guard. If you knew Leanne, you knew she always embraced the opportunity to expand her knowledge and pursue new challenges. She continued at Alamance Community College earning her Basic Law Enforcement Training certification at the end of 2012.
“Community” was important to Leanne and was always at the heart of everything she set out to accomplish. For several years, she was able to serve and protect as a Patrol Officer and Detective at the Graham Police Department. During this time, Leanne met some influential and lifelong friends. Her commitment to the law enforcement community extended beyond her own department as she was able to support officers from across the country at National Police Week and as an Associate Member of Fraternal Order of Police in Washington D.C.
Leanne faithfully served her country as an active-duty officer with the United States Army National Guard, serving in the Office of Complex Investigations for the National Guard Bureau at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland. Her mission took her across the nation, traveling to all but five states, including Puerto Rico. Leanne considered it both an honor and a privilege to wear the uniform and dedicated her life to something greater than herself.
Leanne took her professional life and accomplishments seriously but continued to make her family a priority, including them in late night reading marathons with her mom and sister, eating fatback biscuits from Biscuit Co., swimming, shooting, and going to concerts. The simple moments in life brought her the most joy. She was detail oriented, generous of her time and talents and always had a question ready for any topic or situation. She enjoyed volunteering with Special Olympics and being a guide for multiple Honor Flights. Although Leanne’s kindness touched people of all ages, children held a special place in her heart, always maintaining her “permanent place at the kids table.”
In addition to her parents, Leanne is survived by her brother Nathan Caudill, niece Meliegha Fisher, sister Sarah Caudill-Haslewood and husband Max, half-sister Morgan Cass Clodfelter and husband Dustin, nieces Lacey and Carly, maternal grandmother Jo Ann Cox and husband Kritz, uncle and aunt Lee and Beth Hinesley, as well as her cousin Morgan Hinesley (Calloway Strickland). She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Cecil L. Hinesley, paternal grandparents Baines and Virginia Caudill, Uncle Harold Caudill, and nephew Zachary. Leanne was blessed with a large extended family and many wonderful friends who were considered family.
