Obituary

Rhoda Holmes Harmon, 79, of Franklinville transitioned to her heavenly home on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 surrounded by her family at the Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, May 24, 2026 at Cool Springs Baptist Church with Pastor John Harmon and Pastor Scott Daniels officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 PM until 2:30 PM in the sanctuary. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.

Rhoda was born on October 18, 1946 in Saltville, Virginia to the late Cecil and Mary Mabe Holmes and attended Chilhowie High School. She married the love of her life, Mr. Johnny Harmon in 1964 and for the last 62 years they have been serving the Lord together. Rhoda was a believer from an early age and her faith has been evident in the life she has lived. She was a faithful member of Cool Springs Baptist Church where she served for many years and her role as a “Pastors Wife” was important to her; it was evident in her support of her husband, her family and the love she has shown to her church family over the years. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother to her family and her love and gentle touch will be missed. Rhoda was an inspector for many years, having worked at Triad Fabco Industries in High Point before retiring. When not working, she could be found helping her family, church members, her friends, traveling different places, camping or fishing by the pond.

Rhoda is survived by her husband of 62 years, Pastor John Harmon of the home, daughters, Johanna Goodyear of Randleman, Shelia Bowers and husband James “Jim” of Lexington, and her granddaughter, Mya Grace Goodyear of Randleman. She is also survived by her siblings, Janette Allred (Clancy) of Franklinville, and Gladys Jarvis (Charlie) of Malone, NY. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Margaret Daniels, Kenneth Holmes, and Felix “Sonny” Holmes.
