Robert Christian “Bob” Nelson, 53, of Franklinville passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2026 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, August 9, 2026 at River of Life Church in Greensboro with Pastor Dave Lineback officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 PM until 3:45 PM in the church sanctuary. Bob always enjoyed being with family and friends, therefore, in true “Bob fashion”, the family will have a get together in his memory for family and friends on October 31, 2026 from noon until 6:00 PM at his home.

Bob was born on December 30, 1972, in Wake County and graduated from Athens Drive High School in Raleigh with the Class of 1991. He later found the love of his life in Wendy Martin, and the two were married on October 31, 2020, a date that was especially fitting, as Halloween had always been Bob's favorite holiday. A true "jack of all trades," Bob had a remarkable talent for working with his hands and could tackle just about any construction project that came his way. His strong work ethic and willingness to help others were evident throughout his career, which also included several years serving as a bail bondsman.

Bob never met a stranger and had a larger-than-life personality. His infectious laugh, booming voice, and playful sense of humor made him the center of countless gatherings with family and friends. He loved making memories with those he cared about, especially riding four-wheelers, and enjoyed his knives and guns. Although he was large in stature, those who truly knew Bob knew his heart was as big as he was.

Bob was preceded in death by his father, Michael Fred Nelson, Sr., his brother, Michael Fred Nelson, Jr., and his grandparents, Robert Clayton Jones and Lucille Woodlief Jones. He is survived by his loving wife, Wendy Martin Nelson of the home, children, Corey Martin of Asheboro, Angela Mitchell (Marshall) of Trinity, his grandchildren, Chloe Ray, Rayelyn, Paisley Mae, Wylder, Mackenzie, Connor, Colston, Casen and Lane. He is also survived by his mother, Algia Lynn Jones Nelson, his brother, Bryan Michael Nelson, sister, Lori Nelson Enterline (Jeff), and God-children, Nico Childs, Ashley, Jacob and Greyson Jones, as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews.
